PFC - PERL.eco Future Carbon Exchange

PCX - PERL.eco Carbon Exchange

PFCs are tokenized interests in carbon credits to be issued in the future by carbon development projects. Early access will mean substantial discounts linked to the basis risks involved. Value is projected to increase as the credits progress to issuance, with any positive market growth captured in parallel. The PERL.eco Carbon Exchange (PCX) will enable PERL holders to actively trade PFCs against currency pairs.

What is PERL.eco?

PERL.eco is focusing on these key activities where decentralised finance can have a positive impact in the fight against climate change.

Carbon (PCO2)

We are tokenizing carbon credits and PERL holders are able to offset their emissions and contribute towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas goals.

PERL.eco Future Carbon (PFC)

We are creating opportunities for PERL holders to participate early in carbon credit producing projects, with forward access to high-quality credits sourced from carbon sequestration projects worldwide.

PERL.eco Carbon Exchange (PCX)

With our partners at AirCarbon Holdings, we are building a regulated exchange giving PERL holder the exclusive ability to trade PFCs and other environmental financial instruments.

Biodiversity

We are working to create a marketplace that links the supply and demand of biodiversity value. This will encourage conservation of biodiversity, something that is urgently needed as climate change worsens.

DeFi

We will allow PERL token holders to yield farm for good and earn free incentives.

Education and advocacy

We believe in empowering the community to join us in protecting the planet.

Our Projects

PERL.eco Future Carbon (PFC)

PERL.eco Future Carbon (PFC) will provide access to future streams of carbon credits generated by projects globally. PFCs enable PERL holders low cost access to future carbon credits while providing vital financing to protect the lungs of the planet.

PERL.eco Carbon Exchange (PCX)

PERL.eco is collaborating with AirCarbon Group, the operator of the fully regulated carbon exchange ACX, to build the PERL.eco Carbon Exchange (PCX) a complimentary stand-alone regulated ecosystem for trading in PFCs and other environmental financial instruments

With only a small number of institutional investors able to access carbon development projects, there is no existing mechanism for passionate individuals to gain exposure to these investments. The ability to finance vital forest conservation at scale is also seriously limited. To solve this, PCX will provide an innovative source of forward-financing for carbon projects using PERLs (in the hands of non-institutional holders) as the catalyst for change.

PERL.eco Carbon Off-sets (PCO2)

Around 51 billion tons of greenhouse gases are added to the atmosphere each year. If that sounds like a lot, that's because it is. According to NASA, 1 billion ton, or a gigaton, is already equivalent to the weight of 10,000 fully-loaded U.S aircraft carriers.

The carbon commodity market is rapidly growing as whole industries move toward greater sustainability and emissions reductions goals. Various companies and nations have pledged to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. According to Katusa Research, this is a $16 trillion market opportunity if we hit this global carbon reduction goal.

We create opportunities to participate nature-forward carbon projects around the world so that PERL token holders can make a difference in the fight against climate change

Peatland

Globally, peatland covers more than 300M ha, and contains more than 550 gigatonnes of carbon.
  • Stores more carbon than all other vegetation in the world combined
  • Around 15% of global peatland has been drained, contributed to 5.6% of global carbon dioxide emissions
  • Peatland restoration is still possible and must be done

Mangrove

Over 21 gigatonnes of carbon are held in the world's 15M ha of mangroves
  • 87% of the CO2 is stored in the soil beneath the mangroves' roots
  • Mangroves can store up to 5 times more cabon per hectare than tropical rainforests
  • The world has lost more than 35% of its mangrove forests in the past few dacades

Rainforest

Tropical rainforest covers over 200B ha of land storing over 200 gigatonnes of carbon
  • Forests Sequester arounD 2.6 gigatonnes of carbon each year, around 30% of global CO2 emissions
  • Rianforest is being lost at an average rate of 4.7M ha per year
  • Replanting removes more carbon as younger forests sequester carbon at a faster rate

Permafrost

Northern permafrost soils represent the largest terrestrial organic carbon pool 1700 gigatonnes on Earth.
  • Damage estimate from permafrost melting is $66.9 trillion in (2°C)
  • A major tipping point in climate change positive feedback loops
  • Around double the amount of carbon emitted by all of humanity since the Industrial Revolution

Frequently Asked Questions

PERL is the governance token for PERL.eco. By participating in the governance, users can get rewarded with carbon credits airdrop which they use to offset their emission
The liquidity providers will get rewarded with carbon credits for providing liquidity
Carbon credits are digital certificates representing the right to emit one tonne of carbon dioxide or the equivalent amount of a different greenhouse gas (tCO2e). The objective of issuing and trading carbon credits is to allow market mechanisms to drive industrial and commercial processes in the direction of low emissions or less carbon-intensive approaches than those used when there is no cost to emitting carbon dioxide and other GHGs into the atmosphere.
PCX will be the world’s first fully regulated retail carbon exchange allowing PFC and other carbon financial instruments to be traded against the PERL. PFC and other high-quality carbon assets sourced by PERL.eco directly from supply-side carbon projects and partners will be released for retail trading on PCX.
PERL.eco Future Carbon (PFC) are tokenized carbon credits from high-quality carbon projects vetted by PERL.eco that are yet to be issued. Early access to the spot carbon credits will mean a substantial discount linked to the basis risks involved.
AirCarbon Exchange (ACX) will be providing the infrastructure to PCX. ACX is licensed and regulated under the Abu Dhabi Global Market’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority. They have received several awards and recognition for its innovative carbon trading approach. It has been named the "Best Trading Platform" at the Singapore Fintech Awards and was also recognized by the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat for its contributions to climate action, to name a few achievements of ACX
